Tim Boal with BMW X5 in Biarritz

I try to think of this spot as a non-commercial short film since the combination of the shots and the voice-over put me into a calm, unhurried mood - however, try ignoring the parts involving the BMW. Put aside the fact that this is a car commercial basically telling you that surfing gets better with a BMW X5 (ha ha), for me, it all merges nicely together into a single piece of great visual storytelling.

Massive Flickr Update

first split ride!

my photostream on Flickr.

Yesterday I took the time to upload almost 500 shots to my Flickr photostream. It's been a while since I last uploaded photographs but now there should be far enough pictures for you to look at. Pictures reflecting what I've been up to throughout the last months and years. I appreciate my life every day and keep on trying to capture as many precious and fun moments as possible. Have a look and enjoy..

(PS. I've not found the time to geo-tag and label all of them properly, so check back soon for more in-depth info)

THIS IS ERIC KOSTON

Quite inspiring short film by Desillusion Magazine and Nike on pro skateboarder Eric Koston, one of the most influential characters in the board culture scene since its earliest days. I really dig his attitude towards life and his one and only passion - skateboarding - which strongly defines who he is. He never set off to become a pro athlete, he just pursued what he loved to do the most.

Every once in a while, we should remind ourselves that being able to do what we love is a privilege, and not a matter of course. And we should be grateful more often and appreciate what we got.

Life's good!

X Games Detroit

Detroit itself has always caught my attention as a city with quite some history and stories to tell. A new collective now wants to bring the X Games to Detroit. Operating as Action Sports Detroit LLC, they are working with ESPN to create a new type of X Games partnership that uses conventional structures to create unconventional experiences all with the hope of reinventing the city and state.
Some more info and links here.

But first check out this rad teaser, combining great shots in an industrial setting with quite ear-piercing sounds.

OFFF 2010 Paris

I just returned from paris yesterday evening where I attended the 10th anniversary of OFFF - International Festival for the Post-Digital Creation Culture at La Grande Halle which was a great venue compared to last year's OFFF Festival in Lisbon. this year's speakers were Dvein, The Mill, Julien Vallée, Non-Format and Universal Everything to name but a few. i spent the days with the guys from Eat My Dear and Onesize and you can bet it was big fun..
i can really recommend attending this festival as for me it always is a nice combination of traveling with friends, visiting new cities and of course witnessing state-of-the-art motion and graphic design work.
i'll upload some impressions of the trip as soon as i get my macbook back from repair..

now check out the title sequences and the nicely done intros..
